New Year's Social 2020

There was a good turn-out for Owen Baldock’s talk about metal detecting. This was the 23rd such evening, with most talks held by Circle Members and such diverse subjects as a quiz night (the first one), musical evenings and several about aspects of German life. It quickly emerged that Owen’s love for treasure hunting was well justified by some of his finds, one of which can be seen in Maidstone Museum, a rare Anglo-Saxon pendant. Over coffee and tea we were able to look at and handle some of his finds, which ranged from Roman dinarii through to Georgian coins, with buckles and household implements from all historical periods.
