Summer Outing to Down House 2017

This year’s summer day trip was to Down House, the former home of the English naturalist Charles Darwin and his family.  It was here that he worked on his theories of evolution by natural selection.  It is now an English Heritage property.  Eleven members and friends enjoyed exploring the house and gardens, as well as lunch on the patio.  The rain held off (just!), and it was pleasant  enough to follow in Darwin’s footsteps along the Sandwalk.  It was not permitted to take photographs inside the house, but there are excellent images of both the house and the gardens on their website, which can be found on our Links page.
