Schools’ exchanges: The 2017 dates for the schools’ exchanges between Judd School and the Adolf Reichwein Gymnasium have been fixed for 11-19 May in Heusenstamm and 18 -25 June in Tonbridge with a reception on the 21st.
The flower border around the Heusenstamm Relic near Tonbridge Castle is creating a lot of interest from passersby. The Relic, a stone from the old castle in Heusenstamm, was presented to Tonbridge in 1994 on the 10th anniversary of the twinning link. After an initial consultation between Alison Marsden, of Gardening by Design, Debi Simpson of Tonbridge Community Gardeners (TCG) and Eileen Best and Suzannah Niklas of HFC, the garden was initially laid out and planted by members of TCG, together with pupils of Sevenoaks School’s Voluntary Service Unit and members of HFC. It is now being maintained by local volunteers and recently received a donation from the Tonbridge Lions. To see photos of the progress of the border, click here . This gallery will be updated regularly.
Further dates for your diary:
8th to 12th June 2017 - Joint holiday with Freundschaftskreis in Germany. We will as usual spend one night with hosts in Heusenstamm before making our way, with members of the German Circle, to Trier and its surroundings in the Moselle region, spending 3 nights in a hotel. There will be a total of 35 Friends, of which 12 from Tonbridge.
10 Sep 2017 - After last year’s successful presence at the Tonbridge Farmers Market we shall again be taking a stall this year. It is a great opportunity to show ourselves to the public and also to make contact with other local organisations which may benefit from the twinning link.
